The Eagle Has Landed

Michele and I met up at the airport, along with Judith S and Guy from UBC. I watched The Reader and wept at the power of literacy and the lack thereof. What an important film. (My 18-year-old daughter was really put off by the morality of the affair between two people of such disparate ages, but somehow that didn't bother me.)

We shared a taxi to our respective hotels, whereupon, having not eaten today, I went directly to the reception. Gale did itself proud with platters of cheeses, hot nibblies and a carvery of Montreal smoked meat. And may I add, Montrealers don't do squidgy little wine pours. Off to bed.
